Barbecued Bacon

Barbecued bacon - what else is there to say??!  Amazing!!  We have really discovered the full capabilities of Nigel's new BBQ this weekend, and that's a good thing :)

Cowboy Breakfast

I heat up last night's leftovers on the BBQ - potatoes, veggies, sausage - and add eggs cracked into it and salsa and avocado on top.

Truck Ridin'

Time for a crew cab so the Princess doesn't have to cramp her style in the back of the truck anymore!  Nigel, Szirka and I head up to Lillooet and Gun Lake for a long weekend :)

Kindergarten

Szikra has puppy class tonight which is outdoors at my old elementary school - Trafalgar school.  Both of us did kidergarten here!  Everything looks so much smaller than I remember...

Tuesday Movie Girlie Date Night

Mom and I go see a LOVE movie this Tuesday.  Movie girlie date night is fun!  And for the record, we thought the movie was good.

Re-Gifter

The basil plant which Julia gave me before our roommates disbanded which keeps on giving to me in turn.  This thing is going wild and I'm not even doing anything to it!!  It has become a staple in my cooking.  This is my kind of gardening :)

Pizza Dream

Tonight, the dream of the gluten-free cheeseless pizza pie is no longer a dream!  I do my best to create the pizza of my dreams, and it receives high acclaim by my co-consumers.  Success!  Next time will be even better!

And it goes fantastically with some Italian red.

July 25 - July 30

The blog takes a summer hiatus - just like everyone else in this town!

Mom and I ride our bikes out to Boyle Point Provincial Park on Sunday.  A beautiful day for a ride, warm enough to break a sweat and make mom desire ice cream on the way back.

I love Marc's stance in this photo.  He has this signature wide-footed, arms out, action stance.  You can't tell if he's going to flap is arms, try and wrestle with you or run off in a sprint. Either way, he's ready baby!

We rev up our Vespas, courtesy of my parents' friend and Denman resident Keith, and go for a cruise around the island.  Keith assures us that nobody goes for a 'scoot', they go for a 'cruise.

Beachside Shelter

The cottage on Denman Island that my parents have rented for 10 days.  My Aunt and I manage to make it up for friday night despite SEVERAL skews in the plan (flight delays, no reservation, almost missing the ferry, oh my!).  Hello, weekend - I'm ready.

4 on 1

My friend Sue brings her litter of 4 vizsla puppies over to my parent's yard to explore a new place and play with Ogre-sized Szikra.  Sue's puppies are 8 weeks younger, but only a third the size of Szikra.  They are "fresh" to the world.  Szikra doesn't mind and puts all her energy into trying to roughhouse with the young redheads - some of whom find the clunky, smashing movements of Szikra too scary and come running back to us.

Afterwards we sit on the deck and attempt to get a semi-good photo of some of the brood.  Nigel tries to contain the Squigglers on his lap and this was my best picture effort!

Peach Coloured Glasses

Sunday's surprise bouquet is still blooming and looking beautiful this morning.  Peach coloured roses - I like :)

Picnic Time

We tie the Hungarian Princess up at a safe distance so that her Spark won't send sand into our take out sushi dinner at Jericho Beach.  It worked!  We run around with her once we're done eating and make the sand fly.

The Newest Employee

Szikra is making waves at the office with her good looks and her affable personality.  Dogs are 'not allowed' at work, but she's allowed to come quasi-regularly.  We just have to skirt the watchful eyes of front desk security!!  With behavior like this, so far so good!

Mr. Wonderful

Some days just aren't as good as other days... But then your boyfriend comes over with a gorgeous, giant bouquet of flowers and makes you dinner :)

Sleepy Time

Szikra looks for a home to take a nap at Nigel's place.  The next best thing is a tipped over laundry basket.  She won't be able to do this for much longer...
